Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai thanked the Society for its years of dedication to fostering communication and encouraged the new committee to continue promoting alumni engagement and to deepen connections with the University and the wider community.
President Boey shared the University's latest developments, and expressed heartfelt thanks for the selfless dedication of the CityUHK Eminence Society.
Dr Raymond Leung appreciated the tight collaboration with the different units of CityUHK, in particular the Alumni Relations Office.
In his inaugural speech, the new Chairman, Dr Allen Shi, thanked CityUHK and acknowledged the solid foundation laid by his predecessors, and the strong secretariat support provided by CityUHK Alumni Relations Office.
The City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Eminence Society, a distinguished and senior alumni organisation, hosted the Inauguration Ceremony of the 8th Executive Committee cum Appreciation Dinner at the Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong on the evening of February 6. The event brought together over three hundred society leaders, University representatives, honorary chairmen and Executive Committee members, alumni, and friends to celebrate CityUHK’s latest achievements and witness the unity of alumni community in support of their alma mater.
University representatives attending the event were Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of the CityUHK; Professor Freddy Boey, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK; and Professor Chun-Sing Lee, Provost and Deputy President of CityUHK.
The evening began with a dynamic student dance performance, embodying CityUHK’s spirit of " Innovating into the Future". In a symbolic moment, President Boey and Dr Raymond Leung (the 7th Chairman of the CityUHK Eminence Society) passed the seal representing responsibility and legacy to the new Chairman, Dr Allen Shi. President Boey presented the new committee with CityUHK scarves and ties, capturing the historic moment with a photograph as well.
The guests of honour then took the stage for a toast, celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for the CityUHK Eminence Society. The evening was filled with highlights, including a vocal performance by Dr Shi, video presentations on CityUHK’s latest developments, interviews with the new committee, and a lucky draw.
